  • To nurture trusting, caring relationships between adults and children in South Carolina. (Counties served include Richland, Lexington, Fairfield, Newberry and Kershaw.)

Our Goals

  • Provide comprehensive, family-focused services to prevent and treat child abuse and neglect

  • Increase the community's awareness and response to child abuse and neglect

  • Offer specialized staff training, curriculum and program consultations

  • Conduct research in the area of child maltreatment

That every individual is a person of value and worth.

That all people have the ability to change.
 That the earlier the positive parent-child interactions and family functioning are promoted, the more successful they are.

That focusing on a systems approach in working with families is essential. We are sensitive to and recognize the systems within which our families must work and live as well as the outside systems that impact the Nurturing Center.

That significant growth and positive change occur when strengths are identified and emphasized rather than when weaknesses are stressed.

That the goal of our programs are to empower others to become more capable and competent.
